The Australian sport of
surf lifesaving will make its major international,
multi-sport debut at the 2001 Goodwill Games in
Brisbane, Australia, Sept 1-2 on host network
TNT, officials announced today. Previous Games
have featured the debuts of beach volleyball (1994),
triathlon (1994) and motoball (1986) into major
international, multi-sport competition.

Woodward will write an online column called "The
Sights and Sounds of Brisbane" for the 2001
Goodwill Games, begining on Aug. 14. The column
will change daily once the Games commence on Aug.
28 and will cover all aspects of the 2001 Goodwill
Games - from the athletic competitions and opening
gala celebration to the Games' concert series
and Turner Network Television's original network
programming. Woodward will cover breaking news
from the Games, which will kick-off with the opening
celebration on Aug. 28 and end on Sept. 9 with
